The Future Of Alaskan Music
We see a future where Alaska is an international hub of northern music, arts, and culture. We are taking action to develop the Alaskan music industry and put Alaska on the map as “a place where music comes from”.
We are an independent project of the Northern Culture Exchange, a 501c3 nonprofit.
WHAT WE DO
"Develop. Brand. Export."
Develop, brand, and export Alaskan music. Together with our partners, we host music showcases and fundraisers, organize professional development opportunities, host expert industry professionals, and encourage networking events to make it possible for Alaskan musicians to build professional careers.
We are building the link between music, tourism, and economic opportunity in Alaska. Alaska is an extraordinary place that has produced a lineage of extraordinary musicians. We are working to harness the value of Alaska's music scene and support musicians to be successful. Through our partnerships with groups like Visit Anchorage, the Anchorage International Film Festival, and others, we are promoting Alaska as an international destination for tourism and music industry events.
who we are
Driven by Alaskan musicians
AKIMI is a diverse group of musicians, stakeholders and partners from around the state working together to increase the stakes for Alaskan musicians. AKIMI formed in 2017 as a collaboration between the Spenard JazzFest and the Parlor in the Round concert series. We currently have active members around the state with several new initiatives launching in 2018.
