AKIMI is founded by musicians to lift up the music sector. You can think of us as one part industry incubator, one part arts advocacy organization, and one part musicians’ professional association:

  • We promote Alaskan music in and out of the state

  • We create and share professional development opportunities for artists

  • We connect arts groups already doing important work with each other and with Alaskans

  • We collect public data and facilitate research to learn more about Alaska’s under-studied music ecosystem

  • We build bridges between sectors and across geographic divides, learning from other musician development organizations around the world

  • We act as an information and resource hub for musicians and projects
