REPORT: MUSIC STRATEGY IN ALASKAN COMMUNITIES
The Alaska Music Census yields a major report on Anchorage and Juneau
AKIMI’s Alaska Music Census was a major statewide effort undertaken to assess the impact of music in Alaska. Two Alaska communities, the Municipality of Anchorage and the City and Borough of Juneau, were major participants in that work, and so the first comprehensive published report by creative economies research entity Sound Diplomacy focuses on those two communities.
The report includes a state and muni-level music policy review, comparative analysis to other cities, economic assessment, and recommendations for next steps to develop healthy and thriving Alaskan music ecosystems and economies.
AKIMI will be sharing this report, and more to come, with musicians, music businesses, arts agencies and non-profits, and policymakers to celebrate our music scene and galvanize the community around strategies to make it stronger.
