TOWARD THE FUTURE OF ALASKAN MUSIC

The FIRST ANNUAL ALASKA MUSIC SUMMIT is a one day event to rally around a new vision for Alaskan music and increase the states for Alaskan musicians.

The fast-paced agenda for the day will include presentations by members of the Alaskan music community. The guest speaker lineup includes Danielle King of CD Baby (Portland, OR), Devon Leger of Hearth Music (Seattle), and other music industry professionals. Attendees will include Alaskan musicians and venues, nonprofit leaders, and representatives from the film, arts, tourism, and business communities. We will host a series of workshops and action planning sessions to spawn ideas between diverse sectors to develop a new music economy in Alaska. At the end of the day, we will have in place a bold new plan to advance Alaskan music and empower Alaskan musicians.

The SUMMIT will culminate in a blowout concert and fundraiser to support AKIMI and The Alaska Room at the Folk Alliance International Conference. Drink beer, mingle with friends, and listen to some darn good music! Featuring performances by Emily Anderson, Harper's Farce, Matt Hopper, The Super Saturated Sugar Strings, and more!
